The CTE department at Cesar Chavez High School is developing a Production House Collective that will benefit the students, community and schools within SUSD to establish and cement CCHS as the premiere Arts Magnet and distinguished Arts, Media, and Entertainment campus in SUSD. Benefits include numerous real-world scenarios that will train students for outside community positions, internships, and jobs, as well as increase and enrich the collaboration between CTE, Performing Arts, Leadership, SPED, and Journalism programs which benefit all pathways and lead to increased student engagement and articulation.
Utilizing the Project-Based Learning model, the educators behind this Collective are adapting their curriculum to create efficient means of collaboration between students of various pathways to expand on larger real world projects inside and outside of the classroom.
Examples
Musical productions incorporate drama, stagecraft, multimedia, graphic design, show choir, band, business, and others.
Festivals incorporate multiple programs that can contribute and promote student work and positive culture.

Real world exposure to performances, professionals and community advisories is critical for student understanding and success in their chosen field. On and off site training and field trips with our Industry Partners provides our students with exposure and experiences that enhance their portfolios, competence, soft skills, technical skills, and work ethic. With proper funding and support, we can prepare our students for jobs right out of high school.
